BHE PTA General Membership Meeting Notice

BHE PTA will be holding a General Membership meeting on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 5:30 pm. Our meeting will be held on the Zoom platform. To participate in the meeting, all members must register by Monday, December 7, 2020.

As we approach the meeting, you will receive an email from Cheryl Anderson (bhepta.pres@gmail.com) with the Zoom link to join our meeting. You will be able to access the meeting using a computer, iPad or iPhone.

 

MEETING INFORMATION:

The meeting will open approximately 15 minutes prior to the start time. In order to be accepted, you MUST have your first and last name in your profile so we are able to accept you into the meeting. If we cannot verify the name, we will not be able to admit you.

KVA Curbside Book Check-out:

KVA Curbside Book Check-out

Every Friday from 9am-11am

We are busy, busy checking out books to KVA students that have put the books they want on hold.  Pick ups are every Friday from 9am-11am. Books must be placed on hold by Thursday at noon for pick up the following Friday. There is a video lesson on the library Canvas page that explains the process or please read the attached document.

 

We love getting our KVA huskies good books!

 

If Friday morning pick up is a hardship for you, please email Mrs. Tomberlin or Mrs. Meier at BHELibrary@katyisd.org. We can try to arrange another time.

Legacy Parent Academy

The Katy ISD Legacy Parent Academy is a series of informational sessions specifically designed to assist parents by building awareness of a range of social-emotional and academic topics that impact our students and our campuses district-wide. Academy participants will gain factual knowledge pertinent to each topic while also learning strategies and proven techniques to assist in supporting students.

 

Legacy Parent Academy was developed to support the District’s Strategic Plan Goal 8: “We will actively support the emotional well-being of all learners.”

Reflections Art Program for Students

 

 

The National PTA Reflections Program is a fantastic opportunity for students to express themselves through art. This year’s theme is I MATTER BECAUSE… in the categories of:
 

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts

You must be a PTA member for your student to participate. Go to JoinPTA to join.

 

Entry submissions are due October 30.

Birthday Marquee

On the BHE marquee in the front of the school, we dedicate one side just for the honoring of BHE students birthdays!

Every week the PTA updates the birthday side with new student names. We have room for 3 students each week. 

Sign-ups for available slots are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so don't delay to secure your date.

Student Illness - Parent Pick-Up

The health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. As a campus we will make continued efforts, based on district guidelines and best practices to keep your child safe and healthy.

 

Unfortunately, throughout the school year, it is not uncommon for children to contract an illness that requires them to be sent home from school. This year, due to the current health pandemic, sick children presenting with COVID-19 like symptoms: fever (>100.0 F), cough, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, diarrhea or vomiting, abdominal discomfort, new unexplained loss of taste or smell, headache, sore throat, significant muscle aches/pains, will be given a facial covering, regardless of grade level, and will be triaged to a safe location to be monitored by nursing staff.

 

All children presenting with possible COVID-19 like symptoms will be required to be picked up from campus, by a parent, as soon as possible or within an hour of being notified.

BUS SAFETY RULES

 

BUS SAFETY RULES

1. Mask/Face covering should be worn on the bus and the bus stop, until further notice.

2. Observe the same conduct as in the classroom including cell phone use.

3. Enter the bus and immediately go to the assigned seat.

4. Talk in a normal tone of voice.

5. Remain seated and facing forward in the assigned seat until time to exit the bus.

6. Keep head, hands, feet, and other objects to oneself; do not tamper with bus equipment.

7. Use acceptable language; obscene, profane, unacceptable language and/or gestures are prohibited.

8. Refrain from eating and/or drinking on the bus; keep the bus clean.

9. Refrain from throwing objects within the bus or out of the windows.

10. Follow all rules outlined in the District’s Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct, as well as safety rules established by the driver.

11. Arrive at your bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled stop-time and wait a safe distance from where the bus stops. 5 giant steps away from the stop is a good rule.

12. When the bus arrives, do not approach it until the bus has come to a complete stop. Form a single line and board the bus. Go directly to a seat and sit in a safe position. If seats are equipped with seatbelts, they must be worn at all times as required by law. 

13. When it is time to get off of the bus, wait until it comes to a complete stop before getting up from your seat.

WHAT ARE "OFF-CAMPUS" HOURS?


When you are ON the BHE campus, during school hours, your volunteer hours are captured through the RAPTOR system. We want to know how much time you spend outside of BHE or after school hours donating your time to our BHE kids!

Baking treats for hospitality, workbasket items, shopping for Eureka experiments, planning programs, emailing your homeroom or committee members, etc. There are so many ways that you can volunteer off campus! Please log your hours on a regular basis. Every minute counts!
